Watton gardening and cooking project

Beside Youth C.I.C. and Wayland Partnership have kickstarted our multigenerational gardening and cooking project!
We have a fantastic team of 7 volunteers from the local Watton community who have plenty of skills when it comes to gardening and cooking.
Over the next few months we will be creating a small vegetable garden at Watton Community Centre, as well as planting pots at Wayland House and for the young people to take home to their own gardens. We will also be helping out at Loch Neaton in the near future!
We have made a start on the garden, with one of our talented young people Jack making the raised beds for us.

We are planting a variety of fruits and vegetables such as lettuce, radishes, tomatoes, herbs, pumpkins, pak choi, runner beans, bell peppers and more! Our volunteers are there to teach the young people how to grow these plants and look after them properly.
They will also be teaching the young people how to cook in the coming weeks. We are aiming to make a range of meals and bakes that we can then all enjoy eating together...and hopefully using some of what we have grown!
Our aims for this project are to provide positive activities for young people that benefits their mental health. We also hope that by bringing generations together, we create a greater sense of community in the area.
We look forward to seeing where this project will lead!
